Middlesbrough have signed Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho on loan from Sevilla for the remainder of 2024-25 season.
Iheanacho left Leicester on a free transfer for Sevilla last summer but has struggled for game time with only three goals in 11 appearances, of which his three goals came in the first two rounds of Spain’s Copa del Rey.
Sevilla subsequently sanctioned Iheanacho’s return to English soil on loan following an official offer from Boro until the end of the current season.
Confirming Iheanacho’s move, Sevilla issued the following statement thanking him for his efforts; “The Nervionense entity wants to thank Iheanacho for his work these months and wishes him good luck in this second half of the season.”
Iheanacho began his career with Taye Academy in Owerri, Nigeria, before he joined Manchester City where he graduated through their academy to produce 21 goals in 64 appearances, during which he helped the Cityzens win 2015-16 League Cup title.
He then joined Leicester in August 2017 in a seven-season spell which saw him net 61 goals in 232 appearances, amidst which he helped them claim a first FA Cup title in 2021 then promotion back to the Premier League as Championship champions at end of last season.
