2024-25 Premier League: Week 24 – Bournemouth vs Liverpool

Top-four chasing Bournemouth host title-chasing Liverpool at the Vitality Stadium.

Victory could see Bournemouth climb to fourth if Newcastle fail to beat Fulham, whilst Liverpool can move nine points clear at the summit with a win.

Team News

Bournemouth have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 5-0 victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend.

James Hill (muscle), Julian Araujo, Luis Sinisterra (both hamstring), Adam Smith, Marcos Senesi (both muscle), Enes Unal (ACL), Evanilson (metatarsal) and Alex Scott (knee) remain absent.

Liverpool could welcome Darwin Nunez back into contention after he missed their Champions League loss at PSV due to illness.

Diogo Jota (fitness) and Joe Gomez (hamstring) could return but Curtis Jones (knock) remains sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Bournemouth host Liverpool at Vitality Stadium on Saturday 1 February at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bournemouth have won one of their last 12 league meetings against Liverpool (W1, D1, L10).
  • Liverpool have lost one of their last five visits to Bournemouth (W4, L1).
  • Darwin Nunez has scored three goals in Liverpool’s last two meetings against Bournemouth.
  • No outfield Bournemouth player has made an error which led to a conceded league goal this season.
  • Nunez has been caught offside in the top-flight more than any other Liverpool player this season (8).

Prediction

With a top-four spot now on their radar after their recent clinically dominant victories over Forest and Newcastle, Bournemouth are a team to be feared if they turn up and quickly get on the front foot here because they certainly have confidence and momentum on their side.

Liverpool though understandably rested their regulars for the trip to PSV which shows that they clearly view Bournemouth as a serious danger, but the regulars can take belief from their form against the Cherries and clinical win over Ipswich for what could be a very difficult contest.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Liverpool have to sit deep like they did at Brentford and try to snatch a late win but given Bournemouth’s rampant form at present, that probably isn’t an option so I can see an all-out battle ending in a point apiece.

Prediction: Bournemouth 2-2 Liverpool

Result: Bournemouth 0-2 Liverpool
