Crystal Palace host Brentford at Selhurst Park in a mid-table London derby.
Victory will see Palace leapfrog Brentford into 11th position in the table, whilst the Bees will stay 11th with a win and move four points clear of the Eagles.
Team News
Romain Esse could make his debut for Palace following his move from Millwall last weekend.
Cheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad are both ruled out with knee injuries, whilst Jefferson Lerma could return after he missed the Eagles’ win at West Ham due to illness.
Adam Wharton (groin), Matheus Franca (adductor) and Rob Holding (personal) remain sidelined.
Brentford could be without new loan signing, Michael Kayode subject to international clearance.
Kristoffer Ajer (ankle) and Ryan Trevitt (Achilles) could return but Josh Dasilva (knee), Gustavo Nunes (back), Igor Thiago (joint), Ethan Pinnock and Aaron Hickey (both hamstring) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Palace host Brentford at Selhurst Park on Sunday 26 January at 2pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Palace have lost one of their seven previous Premier League meetings against Brentford (W1, D5, L1).
- Brentford are winless in three previous Premier League visits to Palace (D2, L1).
- Both teams have scored in each of their last five league meetings, with Palace scoring seven goals to Brentford’s six across those five clashes.
- Jean-Philippe Mateta has scored three goals in Palace’s last two matches (W2).
- Mikkel Damsgaard has been substituted off on 12 occasions in the top-flight this season – more than any other Brentford player.
Prediction
Unbeaten in their last five league matches and recorded 2–0 wins in their last two outings, Palace certainly are finding form especially after a clinically executed win at West Ham where they had to soak up pressure yet were simply better in their end product than the Hammers.
Brentford meanwhile were simply frustrated in their end product in a tough defeat against Liverpool because they otherwise played well, but were ultimately just outplayed in the final minutes, although that experience will motivate them here in what I do expect to be a tough battle.
In fact I can see goals at both ends and if both teams dig in defensively like they’ve done lately, this could well end in a point apiece.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 Brentford
Result: Crystal Palace 1-2 Brentford
