2024-25 Premier League: Week 22 – Chelsea vs Wolves

Top-four chasing Chelsea host relegation battling Wolves in a Premier League encounter.

Victory will see Chelsea climb up to fourth in the table, whilst Wolves can move three points clear of the drop with a win.

Team News

Cole Palmer is a doubt for Chelsea after he suffered an ankle injury during their 2-2 draw against Bournemouth.

Levi Colwill, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia face late fitness checks after missing training with knocks.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (knock), Mykhailo Mudryk (suspension), Benoit Badiashile (thigh), Wesley Fofana and Omari Kellyman (both hamstring) are still ruled out.

Wolves will welcome Mario Lemina back in midfield following discussion over his conduct amidst transfer speculation surrounding his future at the club.

Matheus Cunha (illness) is a doubt but Toti Gomes (hamstring), Yerson Mosquera, Boubacar Traore (both knee), Sasa Kalajdzic and Enso Gonzalez (both ACL) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Chelsea host Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Monday 20 January at 8pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

Prediction

Currently below-par result wise with no wins in their last five league matches after they salvaged a draw against Bournemouth in a wasteful attacking performance, Chelsea need to start finding their winning foot again if they want to try and keep control at the head of the top-four race.

Wolves though will be eager to bounce back from consecutive 3-0 league defeats because they were just outclassed from start to finish at Newcastle defensively, whilst their attack lacked much quality in the finishing touches at times so a huge improvement is needed if they want any points here.

I however do expect Chelsea to bounce back because not only are they at home but their attack should be more than strong enough to get a comfortable result, as long as their defence doesn’t switch off and can handle the likes of Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Wolves

Result: Chelsea 3-1 Wolves
