2024-25 Sky Bet Championship: Week 27 – Tuesday

Cardiff City host Watford in a rescheduled Championship clash with implications at both ends of the table.

Victory would see Cardiff climb out of the relegation zone and up to 20th in the table, whilst Watford can go seventh with a win.

Team News

Cardiff will welcome Callum Robinson back from suspension after he missed their last two matches.

Isaak Davies, David Turnbull, Aaron Ramsey (all hamstring) and Michael Reindorf (ankle) remain absent.

Watford have no fresh injury issues to report following their FA Cup exit at Fulham.

Daniel Bachmann (ankle), Tom Dele-Bashiru and Kevin Keben (both knee) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Cardiff host Watford at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday 14 January at 7:45pm GMT, live on Sky Sports + in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Cardiff are unbeaten in their last four meetings against Watford (W3, D1).
  • Watford are unbeaten in their last five league visits to Cardiff (W4, D1).
  • Both Cardiff and Watford have scored in each of their last 12 league meetings in Wales, with the Bluebirds scoring 20 goals across the period compared to Watford’s 25 goals.
  • Cardiff have lost three of their last four home games by 2-0 results, except for a 1-1 draw against Coventry on 1 January 2025.
  • Kwadwo Baah has scored in each of Watford’s last two Championship away games (L2).

Prediction

With an away win over Watford followed by two 1-1 draws in their last three league games before a surprise clinical FA Cup victory at Sheffield Utd, Cardiff have certainly found some momentum and I expect them to try and produce a similar display knowing that a win will lift them out of the bottom three.

Watford’s away woes meanwhile continued at Fulham but they did well to come from behind to equalise before half-time, yet they were eventually outclassed amidst several team changes so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them bounce back with key players back in the starting line-up.

Tom Cleverley’s Hornets though need to be clinical and more defensively solid if want to turn around their away form but Cardiff should have enough for a draw.

Prediction: Cardiff 1-1 Watford
