Roundup of latest Premier League action as the festive period kicked off. 

Braces from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah plus goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai saw table-topping Liverpool beat Tottenham 6-3, despite James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke netting for the North London hosts.

Chelsea missed a chance to go top and slipped four points behind in second after they stuttered to a goalless draw at Everton.

Gabriel Jesus’ brace plus goals from Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rice fired Arsenal to a 5-1 win at Crystal Palace, despite Ismaila Sarr’s brief equaliser for the Eagles.

Forest rounded out the top four with a 2-0 win at Brentford through goals from Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga.

Down in the relegation zone, Southampton began life under Ivan Juric with a goalless draw at Fulham.

Ipswich slipped to second bottom on goal difference with a 4-0 home loss to Newcastle, in which Alexander Isak netted a hat-trick and Jacob Murphy also got on the scoresheet.

Wolves moved up to third-bottom with a 3-0 win at Leicester in Viktor Pereira’s first game as boss, as Goncalo Guedes, Rodrigo Gomes and Matheus Cunha netted in a clinical first half.

Elsewhere, Bournemouth climbed to fifth with a 3-0 win at Manchester United as Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo netted.

Morgan Rogers set up Jhon Duran’s strike then scored himself against his former club as Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1 at home, which condemned City to one win in their last 12 games in all competitions amidst Phil Foden’s effort.

Finally, Mohammed Kudus cancelled out Mats Wieffer’s strike as West Ham fought back to draw 1-1 against Brighton in East London.
