Aston Villa host Manchester City in a huge Premier League clash.
Victory will see Villa leapfrog Man City into fifth, whilst City can go fourth with a win for at least a few hours.
Team News
Tyrone Mings is a doubt for Villa due to illness.
Leon Bailey (hamstring) could return but Jacob Ramsey (hamstring) remains absent.
Man City will be without defender, Ruben Dias after he suffered a muscle injury in their Manchester derby lost to Man Utd.
Manuel Akanji (pelvis) and Rico Lewis (suspension) could return but Nathan Ake (thigh), Oscar Bobb (leg) and Rodri (knee) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Villa host Man City at Villa Park on Saturday 21 December at 12:30pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Villa have claimed four points in their last eight league meetings against Man City (W1, D1, L6).
- Man City have lost one of their last five league visits to Villa (W3, D1, L1).
- Villa are seeking consecutive home wins over Man City for the first time in the Premier League.
- Villa have kept one clean sheet in their last four league matches at home (W2, D2).
- City have conceded twice in each of their last four top-flight away games (D1, L3).
Prediction
Although their late defeat at Forest was frustrating, Villa simply didn’t take their chances before a late defensive switch-off cost them a more composed performance is needed.
City just looked lacklustre in their end product against Utd for all of their dominance until late on, when their defence was just flat and Dias’ absence will be a big loss especially if Akanji doesn’t make the team sheet.
If I am being honest, I just can’t see City winning this if Villa turn up and play their clinical football and a draw would be a kind result at present.
Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 Man City
Result: Aston Villa 2-1 Man City
