Aston Villa entertain Brentford at Villa Park in an exciting Premier League clash.
Victory could see Villa climb back into the top ten depending on results elsewhere, whilst Brentford can go sixth with a win.
Team News
Emiliano Martinez is a doubt for Villa with a hand injury.
Amadou Onana (foot) is a doubt but Jacob Ramsey (hamstring) is still out.
Brentford will be without Matias Jensen due to a hamstring injury.
Kristoffer Ajer (foot), Gustavo Nunes (back), Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry (both knee) and Aaron Hickey (hamstring) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Villa host Brentford at Villa Park on Wednesday 4 December at 8:15pm GMT, live on Amazon Prime in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Villa have lost one of six previous Premier League meetings against Brentford (W2, D3, L1).
- Brentford are winless at Villa Park in the Premier League (D2, L1).
- Villa’s Ollie Watkins scored three goals in two appearances against Brentford last season.
- Villa are winless at home to London-based clubs in all competitions this season (D1, L2).
- Brentford have kept just two clean sheets on the road in all competitions this season (W1, D1, L5).
Prediction
Having lacked much end product in their loss at Chelsea amidst some sloppy marking of their three conceded goals, Villa now need to reset and start finding some form if want to return to the top ten.
Brentford were initially scruffy against Leicester but ultimately ruthless once hit their stride, so I would like to see them bring that performance onto the road if want a first away top-flight win of this season.
Villa Park however isn’t an easy place to go but if Thomas Frank’s Bees can play with their recent energetic attacking intensity, they should spring a surprise here.
Prediction: Aston Villa 1-2 Brentford
Result: Aston Villa 3-1 Brentford
