2024-25 FA Cup: Second Round – Wealdstone vs Wycombe

Wealdstone look to spring a giant killing against Wycombe Wanderers in the second round of 2024-25 FA Cup.

Victory would see Wealdstone progress to the third round for the first time since 1977-78 edition, whilst Wycombe look to reach the third round for the first time since 2020-21 season.

Team News

Wealdstone will be without Sean Adarkwa due to injury.

Wycombe could welcome Tyreeq Bakinson back into contention if he passes a late fitness test.

Kodua, Kieran Sadlier, Josh Scowen and Sam Vokes remain sidelined with injuries.

When is Kick-Off?

Wealdstone host Wycombe at Grosvenor Vale on Saturday 30 November at 11:30am GMT, live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is Wealdstone’s first FA Cup meeting against Wycombe Wanderers.
  • Wycombe are visiting Grosvenor Vale for the first time in a competitive fixture.
  • Wealdstone haven’t beaten EFL opposition in consecutive rounds since 1977, when they beat Hereford United and Reading.
  • Wycombe have won each of their last five FA Cup ties against non-league opposition (W5), since a 2-0 loss to then fifth-tier Fleetwood in November 2011.

Prediction

With one defeat in their last six games but above the National League’s relegation zone on goal difference, Wealdstone’s priority needs to be survival but they will certainly give their best effort as underdogs.

Wycombe meanwhile are flying high at the top of League One and unbeaten in 12 matches, which is a huge confidence coming into a potential banana skin if boss – Matt Bloomfield makes too many changes and underestimate this tie.

I however just can’t see Wycombe losing this on current form given how vulnerable Wealdstone’s defence is, although the hosts might get a goal if they can find a way to breach Wycombe’s strong back-line.

Prediction: Wealdstone 1-3 Wycombe

Result: Wealdstone 0-2 Wycombe
