Sporting Lisbon host Arsenal in an exciting league phase clash in 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.
Victory would put Sporting top until at least Wednesday evening, whilst Arsenal can go into the top eight with a win if results elsewhere go their way.
Team News
Sporting will be without Nuno Santos (knee) and Pedro Goncalves (muscle) who are both ruled out.
Arsenal have no fresh injury issues following their 3-0 Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.

Stat Attack
- This is Sporting Lisbon’s first Champions League meeting against Arsenal.
- Arsenal are yet to lose away to Sporting Lisbon in all competitions (W1, D2).
- In their three previous visits to Sporting, Arsenal kept clean sheets on two occasions.
- Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres has scored three goals in two home games in this phase of the competition (W2).
- Arsenal are yet to score away from home in the league phase.
Prediction
Having enjoyed an easy start to life under Joao Pereira with a 6-0 win over Amarante in Taca de Portugal, Sporting will be relishing this clash with confidence high and some key players rested so I do expect them to be a relentless threat.
Arsenal likewise thrashed Forest in a dominant display with little trouble so should match Sporting if bring the same quality, yet they are without a goal on their European travels which is a slight niggle coming into this game.
I nevertheless am expecting a tough battle but Arsenal must quieten Gyokeres otherwise this could be a home win.
Prediction: Sporting 2-1 Arsenal
Result: Sporting 1-5 Arsenal
