Midfielder, Yasin Ayari believes that Brighton can enjoy “a really good season.”

Ayari spent last season on loan at Coventry then Blackburn but has made 11 appearances this season for the Seagulls, who currently lie sixth in the Premier League following a comeback home win over Manchester City.

The 21 year-old Swede in an interview with the club’s website is therefore confident that he and his teammates can have a good first campaign under new Head Coach, Fabian Hürzeler who replaced Roberto De Zerbi this summer.

“I think that all of us have the belief that we can go on and have a really good season. When you come in and train, you can see how good the players are, and how good the coach is.

“With the players we have in the team, it’s not a surprise to see where we are and you can see that we go into every game trying to win it because we know how good we are.”

Ayari though iterated that Brighton can’t afford to be underestimating their opponents, especially at home where they lost to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup prior to the victory over Man City in their recent home game.

“I just think that in the Premier League, you cannot underestimate any team, no matter where they are in the table.

“We’ve had some tough fixtures of late, and it was disappointing to exit the Carabao Cup against Liverpool, but we know that we can beat any team on our day – especially when we are here at the Amex. It’s always special to play here with the fans.”

Despite Hürzeler’s lack of top-flight managerial experience, Ayari is impressed at how the American-born manager has connected with the squad and sold his playing vision with view to upsetting the establishment.

“He got the group gelling together really quickly and we are trusting him, with his ability, to coach this team at this level.

He has shown how good he is from the very first day he stepped into the building – with his standards and with his mindset, how he wants to play.

“I think everyone understood it and got on board with it from that first day. He told us that we should fight, to challenge the establishment, that was the first thing he said and that’s our aim for this season.”
