2024-25 UEFA Nations League: League A – Poland vs Scotland

Poland host Scotland in a crucial 2024-25 UEFA Nations League A1 clash.

Victory would see Poland avoid automatic relegation at Scotland’s expense, but defeat would see them relegated and Scotland leapfrog them into third and qualify for the promotion-relegation play-offs.

Team News

Poland will be without Jan Bednarek, Bartosz Bereszynski and Taras Romanczuk due to injury.

Scotland have no fresh injury concerns following their win over Croatia.

When is Kick-Off?

Poland host Scotland at Stadion Narodowy, Warsaw, on Monday 18 November at 8:45pm CET (7:45pm UK Time), live on Viaplay YouTube channel.

Stat Attack

  • Poland won 3-2 away in their only previous Nations League clash against Poland in September 2024.
  • Scotland are playing away to Poland for the first time in this competition, but have lost one of six previous visits in all competitions (W2, D2, L1).
  • Both Poland and Scotland have scored in 10 of 12 previous clashes in all competitions, except for a single 1-0 win apiece to both sides on Polish soil.
  • Piotr Zielinski has scored in each of Poland’s last two home games (D1, L1).
  • Scotland are looking to keep three consecutive clean sheets in all competitions for the first time since October – November 2021.

Prediction

With a relegation play-off spot and automatic relegation somehow in their own hands, Poland really need to cut out their defensive errors which has been a large reason behind their one win in eight games since this summer’s Euros started.

Scotland meanwhile simply need to come out fighting because a win would see them stay up – but potentially jump from last to second too if Portugal beat Croatia, of which the latter were clinically dispatched with a ruthless organised display.

Neither team though aren’t defensively strong and with Robert Lewandowski not available for Poland, this is a chance for Scotland to snatch unlikely survival.

Prediction: Poland 1-2 Scotland

Result: Poland 1-2 Scotland
