2024-25 Premier League: Week Nine – West Ham vs Man Utd

West Ham host Manchester United at London Stadium in a mid-table Premier League contest.

Victory will see West Ham climb above Man Utd into 13th position in the table, whilst Erik Ten Hag’s Red Devils can go ninth if Tottenham and Newcastle both lose elsewhere.

Team News

Mohammed Kudus is suspended for West Ham’s next three games following his red card in their 4-1 loss at Tottenham.

Niclas Fullkrug (calf) remains sidelined.

Man Utd will welcome captain, Bruno Fernandes back after he missed their 1-1 draw at Fenerbahce in the Europa League, due to his one-match suspension in that competition.

Jonny Evans (knock) is a doubt but Antony (ankle) is ruled out.

Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire (both calf), Kobbie Mainoo (hamstring), Mason Mount (head), Leny Yoro (ankle) and Tyrell Malacia (knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

West Ham host Man Utd at London Stadium on Sunday 27 October at 2pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

Prediction

After a terrible second-half defensive implosion in their defeat at Tottenham, West Ham must now reset and look to play more on the counter-attack like they did in the first half, where they looked confident in attack with quality.

Man Utd meanwhile might have constant injury issues but their lacklustre results can’t be blamed on injuries, as the players on the pitch aren’t delivering enough which was evident in a wasteful draw at Fenerbahce.

There is now no doubt that both teams must buck up their ideas coming into this game with managers under pressure, but if West Ham can get at Utd’s defence then there might be one result coming.

Prediction: West Ham 2-1 Man Utd

Result: West Ham 2-1 Man Utd
