Chelsea meet Newcastle at Stamford Bridge in a huge Premier League clash.
Victory would lift Chelsea up to fourth before Arsenal play in the teatime kick-off, whilst Newcastle can go seventh with a win if Tottenham fail to win elsewhere.
Team News
Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer are in contention for Chelsea after the trio missed the 4-1 UEFA Conference League win at Panathinaikos.
Omari Kellyman (hamstring) remains ruled out.
Newcastle could welcome second-choice goalkeeper, Martin Dubravka back into contention, after he missed their last two games with a minor knee injury.
Callum Wilson (back), Kieran Trippier (hamstring), Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles (both knee) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Chelsea host Newcastle at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 27 October at 2pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Chelsea have won one of their last four league meetings against Newcastle (W1, D1, L2).
- Newcastle have claimed one point in their last 11 league visits to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (D1, L10).
- Newcastle’s Alexander Isak scored in both league appearances against Chelsea last season (W1, L1).
- 11 of Chelsea’s 17 league goals have been scored by Cole Palmer (6) and Nicolas Jackson (5).
- Newcastle have kept just one clean sheet in four league games on the road this season (W1, D2, L1).
Prediction
Following their lengthy trip to Athens which saw them claim comfortably dominant win over Panathinaikos, Chelsea now must take the confidence from that win and continue to play like they’ve done lately.
Newcastle though have had a week to totally prepare for this test after a wasteful loss against Brighton despite their dominance, so I do expect them to mount a reaction here.
Both teams though will meet on Tyneside on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup so both managers won’t want to play their cards here, which could lead to a tight game and possibly a draw.
Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Newcastle
Result: Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle
