Liverpool entertain Chelsea at Anfield in a blockbuster Premier League showdown.
Victory will see Liverpool stay top of the table, whilst Chelsea could go second with a win if Manchester City lose at Wolves in the mid-afternoon kick-off.
Team News
Alisson is ruled out for Liverpool after he suffered a hamstring injury in their 1-0 win at Crystal Palace before the international break.
Wataru Endo (illness) and Federico Chiesa (knock) could return but Harvey Elliott (foot) remains sidelined.
Chelsea will be without Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana who are both suspended, having picked up their fifth bookings in the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest a fortnight ago.
Reece James (hamstring), Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell (both illness) could feature.
Omari Kellyman (hamstring) remains sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday 20 October at 4:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Liverpool are unbeaten in their last six league meetings against Chelsea (W1, D5).
- Chelsea have won one of their last six league trips to Liverpool at Anfield (W1, D2, L3).
- Liverpool’s Luis Diaz scored in both league appearances against Chelsea last season (W1, D1).
- Arne Slot’s Reds have kept clean sheets in two of three league matches at home this season.
- 10 of Chelsea’s 16 league goals this season have been scored away from home.
Prediction
Having scraped past Palace with a clinical goal and superb defending amidst some wasteful finishing, Liverpool must be sharper if they want to win here but their defence must be more focused from the get-go against a tough Chelsea attack.
Chelsea meanwhile will be aware that if Man City lose at Wolves, they can thrust themselves right into the title mix but they will need to find a way of overcoming low block defences after Notting Forest troubled them last time out.
For me, tactics will be key to the outcome but I just think that this is destined for a draw, even though Chelsea are more dangerous on the road.
Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea
Result: Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea
