2024-25 Sky Bet League One: Week 11 – Peterborough vs Rotherham

Peterborough host Rotherham in a stand0ut League One fixture. 

Victory would see Peterborough climb to sixth unless they win by two goals or more, which would then lift them further up to fifth.

Rotherham can go up to ninth with a win and leapfrog the Posh.

 

Team News

Hector Kyprianou is ruled out for Peterborough after he missed their last two matches – both coincidentally at home to Stevenage – due to a hamstring injury.

Jadel Katongo (hamstring), Chris Conn-Clarke (collarbone), Mahamadou Susoho (muscle) and Bradley Ihionvien (calf) remain absent.

Rotherham could welcome defender, Sean Raggett, and midfielder, Liam Kelly back into contention, should the pair pass fitness tests.

• Peterborough have avoided defeat in six of their last eight meetings against Rotherham (W5, D1, L2).
• Rotherham have won one of their last five league visits to Peterborough (W1, D1, L3).
• Peterborough have conceded in eight of their last nine home games against Rotherham in all competitions.
• Kwame Poku has scored in each of Peterborough’s last three home games (W2, D1).
• All three of Rotherham’s away league goals have been scored in the second half.

 

Prediction

With just two wins in their last seven league matches and yet to keep a clean sheet, Peterborough certainly need to tighten up at the back but there is no doubting their attacking quality as best goalscoring team outside of current top six.

Rotherham meanwhile have lost one game in the same period after a slow start but their inability to score before half-time could face a test, because I do expect the Posh to pose a tough test given their attacking ability.

It is probably therefore important that Rotherham can match Peterborough in the first half, because if the Posh score first and can protect that lead into the break then I expect them to take victory.
