Finland face Ireland in a bottom of 2024-25 UEFA Nations League B2 clash.
Victory will see Finland move above Ireland into third in the group, whilst a win would see Ireland move three points clear of their hosts.
Team News
Kaan Kairinen is the only player ruled out for Finland due to injury.
Ireland have no fresh injury concerns to report with a full squad in contention.
When is Kick-Off?
Finland host Ireland at Helsinki Olympic Stadium on Thursday 10 October at 8:45pm CET (7:45pm UK Time), live on Viaplay International YouTube in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Finland’s first Nations League meeting against Ireland.
- Ireland are unbeaten in two of their three previous visits to Finland in all competitions (W1, D1, L1).
- In their three previous meetings on Finnish soil, Ireland scored four goals on aggregate to Finland’s two goals.
- Finland conceded five goals in their first two group matches (L2).
- Defeat would see Ireland suffer four consecutive losses in all competitions for the first time since May – October 2007.
Prediction
Without any cutting edge in their two matches last month, Finland really need to find their clinical edge if want to seize the initiative in their fight to avoid relegation.
Ireland meanwhile need to make a similar improvement but having produced brave displays against England and Greece, I do expect them to step their attacking game up a notch but they must convert their opportunities.
This game therefore does feel like it could be a see-saw cagey battle as both teams won’t want to lose this, so I am going for a draw unless one team can nick a goal.
Prediction: Finland 0-0 ROI
Result: Finland 1-2 ROI
