Winless Crystal Palace host Premier League leaders, Liverpool, at Selhurst Park.
Victory would lift Palace out of the relegation zone and up to 14th ahead of the mid-afternoon games, although a point would be enough to move them out of the bottom three too.
Liverpool will head into this month’s international break on top if they manage to win in South London.
Team News
Matheus Franca could return for Palace after recovering from a lengthy hamstring injury.
Cheick Doucoure (toe), Chadi Riad (knee), Chris Richards (hamstring) and Rob Holding (personal) remain sidelined.
Liverpool could welcome Federico Chiesa back into contention after he sat out their Champions League win over Bologna with a knock.
Harvey Elliott (ankle) remains ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Palace host Liverpool in a 12:30pm BST kick-off at Selhurst Park on Saturday 5 October, live on TNT Sport 1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Palace have won just one of their last 14 league meetings against Liverpool (W1, D2, L11).
- Liverpool are unbeaten in their last nine league visits to Palace (W8, D1).
- Palace have kept clean sheets in two of their last three meetings against Liverpool (W1, D1, L1).
- In Palace’s first seven league games, nobody made more tackles than Tyrick Mitchell (21).
- Virgil van Dijk has produced more touches on the ball so far this season than any other Liverpool player (532).
Prediction
After a strong finish to last season under Oliver Glasner, it is difficult to work out how Palace haven’t kicked on this season because they have been wasteful up front, yet their defensive quality was poor in their loss at Everton.
Liverpool meanwhile produced a clinical performance to beat Bologna who gave a decent account of themselves, with solid periods of pressure which shows that the Reds’ defence can be beaten if the opposition are clinical.
I however can’t see Palace winning here given how strong Liverpool have been at Selhurst Park, but a goal is achievable but a draw will depend on their defensive performance.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool
Result: Crystal Palace 0-1 Liverpool
