2024-25 League 2: Week Eight – Gillingham vs Barrow

Gillingham host Barrow at Priestfield Stadium in a standout top of League 2 encounter.

Currently locked on 16 points apiece and goal difference of +8 with Barrow sat top on goals scored, victory would see Gillingham go top or Barrow will remain at the summit with a win.

Team News

Gillingham have no fresh injury concerns to report following their win at Notts County last weekend.

Josh Andrews (quad) and Bradley Dack (fitness) remain sidelined.

Barrow have no fresh injury concerns following their Carabao Cup exit at Chelsea in midweek.

Robbie Gotts (muscle), Connor Mahoney (thigh) and Sam Barnes (unspecified) remain ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Gillingham host Barrow at Priestfield Stadium on Saturday 28 September at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Gillingham have won just one of their last eight meetings against Barrow (W1, D3, L4).
  • Barrow have won one of their last seven visits to Gillingham (W1, D2, L4).
  • Two of Gillingham’s last three home matches against Barrow ended in a 1-1 draw.
  • Gillingham have kept clean sheets in five of their last six league matches.
  • Theo Vassell has scored in each of Gillingham’s last two matches (W2).

Prediction

Unbeaten at home and with clean sheets in five of their last six league matches, Gillingham certainly have belief coming into this top-of-table clash after taking a clinical win at Notts County.

Barrow however are in similar form and now under ex Gills boss – Stephen Clemence who knows how many of his old team play, which could be a tactical advantage to a small extent but they need to just reset after their midweek humiliation.

Gillingham though are a difficult team to break down so I do see a tough fight here and a draw between these two teams.

Prediction: Gillingham 1-1 Barrow

Result: Gillingham 2-0 Barrow
