2026-27 Sky Bet Championship: Week 11 – Tuesday

Wolves face Portsmouth in a rearranged Championship fixture at Molineux.

Victory would lift Wolves up to fifth in the table, whilst Portsmouth can climb as high as eighth and leapfrog Wolves into the final play-off spot if win by three goals or more.

Team News

Adam Armstrong could return for Wolves after a back injury kept him out of their 2-1 win at Burnley.

Bertrand Traore (hamstring), Raul Jimenez (knee), Boubacar Traore (calf) and Rodrigo Gomes (ankle) are also sidelined.

Portsmouth could be without Colby Bishop after he suffered a knee injury during warm-up for their 1-0 win at Norwich last Saturday.

Keshi Anderson (hamstring), Benjamin Arthur (back), Luke Brooke-Smith, Thomas Waddingham (both ankle), Mark Kosznovszky, Connor Ogilvie, John Swift (all knee), Josh Murphy (groin), Marko Milovanovic (calf), Conor Shaughnessy (groin). and Franco Umeh (hamstring) are sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Wolves host Portsmouth at Molineux on Tuesday 20 October at 7:45pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Wolves are winless in their last six league meetings against Portsmouth (D3, L3).
  • Portsmouth are unbeaten in their last six league visits to Wolves at Molineux (W1, D5).
  • Portsmouth have kept clean sheets in their last two trips to Wolves (D1, L1), as they drew 0-0 in August 2003 then won 1-0 in October 2009.
  • Fer Lopez has been involved in seven of Wolves’ 18 league goals this season, having produced five goals and two assists in 10 appearances
  • Portsmouth are looking to claim three consecutive league victories for the first time since April.

Prediction

Despite their forward crisis at Turf Moor, Wolves should be pleased at how they came from behind at Burnley because they were second best at times in the first half until they clinically punished an error from the hosts, which gave them momentum that they built on successfully in the second half.

Portsmouth meanwhile have done well to win their last two matches amidst an injury crisis even if they had to dig in at Norwich to snatch a late winner, which will give them confidence given their form at Molineux.

I however do think that Wolves will win this because they should have the quality to beat Portsmouth, but I do think that they might need some patience and grind it until they can get the first goal to unlock their visitors’ defence.

Prediction: Wolves 2-0 Portsmouth
