2024-25 Sky Bet Championship: Week Seven – Friday

Plymouth Argyle host Luton Town at Home Park in a Championship clash.

Victory would see Plymouth climb to 13th in the table, whilst Luton can go ninth with a win.

Team News

Plymouth have no fresh injury concerns to report with a full squad in contention, despite a 1-0 loss at West Brom last weekend.

Luton will be without Amari’i Bell after the defender suffered a hamstring injury.

Jacob Brown (knee) could return but Daiki Hashioka (calf) and Shandon Baptiste (fitness) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Plymouth host Luton at Home Park on Friday 27 September at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Plymouth are winless in their last five meetings against Luton (D2, L3).
  • Luton have lost one of their last five visits to Plymouth (W3, D1, L1).
  • Plymouth have conceded four goals without reply across two of their last three home matches against Luton.
  • Joe Edwards has been booked in two of Plymouth’s last three home matches.
  • Three of Luton’s four goalscorers this season are English players (Carlton Morris, Teden Mengi and Zack Nelson).

Prediction

Since their opening day defensive disaster, Plymouth haven’t really played too bad but they now need to start cutting out those mistakes and be more clinical if want to start creating wins.

Luton though seem to have found their groove after a slow start back in the Championship, but they need to be more clinical after a lucky late win against Sheffield Wednesday if want to ignite a promotion challenge.

Goals therefore does feel likely to happen here but I fancy Luton to get the win if they can continue their momentum, although I would like to see them be more clinical in their shot conversion.

Prediction: Plymouth 1-2 Luton

Result: Plymouth 3-1 Luton
