AC Milan host Liverpool at San Siro in their first league phase fixture of 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.
Victory could see both teams start this new league phase on a high, with the top eight guaranteed a knockout spot.

- AC Milan have one of four previous meetings against Liverpool excluding penalty shootouts (W1, D1, L2).
- Liverpool won 2-1 on their only previous Champions League trip to AC Milan at San Siro in December 2021 (W1).
- Mohamed Salah has scored in each of his two starts for Liverpool against AC Milan (W2).
- AC Milan have won one of their last five home games against English opposition (W1, D1, L3).
- Liverpool have won four of their last five away trips to Italian opposition in all competitions (W4, L1).
Prediction
With just one clean sheet this season, AC Milan know that they will need to step up defensively because their attack otherwise is dangerous and I do expect them to cause issues when get forward.
Liverpool meanwhile were simply off-colour in their loss to Forest which should fire them up to produce a response, yet their patient buildup play could be to their detriment if teams can hustle them into quicker play.
Italy though has been quite an enjoyable hunting ground for Liverpool so I do see them getting a win, especially if can target AC Milan’s vulnerable defence.
Prediction: AC Milan 1-2 Liverpool
Result: AC Milan 1-3 Liverpool
