Four Key Pointers

  • Baku City Circuit’s power-based first and third sectors means that maximum speed is important, yet traction is needed through a twisty second sector.
  • McLaren has a decision to make as to how they approach this weekend and potentially rest of season on team orders if to maximise Norris’ title challenge.
  • With car balance proving an issue in recent races, Red Bull need to try and optimise their setup if want to be competitive on the streets of Baku.
  • Having gone unbeaten on F2’s visit to Baku last season, Bearman must adapt to the rigors of F1 machinery around these streets but confidence will be high.

Last Time Out

In F1’s visit last season, Sergio Perez took victory in the Sprint Race from second on the grid as he made a race-winning overtake on Charles Leclerc on Lap 8.

The Mexican completed a double victory with the Grand Prix win after he benefitted from a well-timed safety car deployment on Lap 11 to take the win from Verstappen. .
