Williams junior, Luke Browning has joined ART GP for the remainder of the 2024 F2 season.
Browning’s promotion comes just over 24 hours after his British compatriot and fellow Williams junior, Zak O’Sullivan withdrew from his ART GP seat due to funding issues.
In a short statement explaining the changes, ART GP thanked O’Sullivan for his efforts but welcomed Browning to the team.
“Zak O’Sullivan will unfortunately not be able to finish the season with us, but we would like to thank him for his hard work throughout the season, including a win in the prestigious Monaco race and a victory in the Sprint race at Spa Francorchamps.
“We are delighted to welcome Luke to the team. He is a talented driver, who has proven himself, including winning two races this year in Formula 3. We are confident that he will bring a lot of energy and skill to our team for the last three races.”
Williams meanwhile confirmed that O’Sullivan “… will continue as part of the Williams Racing Driver Academy as the team supports his next steps.”
Browning will make his F2 debut this weekend in Baku, Azerbaijan, which sees him become the third driver to progress from F3 to F2 for the Eastern Europe trip after Gabriele Mini and Christian Mansell were called up by PREMA and Trident respectively.
The 22 year-old Kingsley-born driver is a proven winner at junior level with 2020 British F4 and 2022 GB3 titles, and spent last two seasons in F3 where he finished third in the most recent campaign plus also won 2023 Macau GP.
