Scotland entertain Poland at Hampden Park in their opening League A clash in 2024-25 UEFA Nations League.
Victory would see Scotland or Poland go top if can better Portugal’s result against Croatia.
Team News
Connor Barron is in contention for his first Scotland senior cap after he was called up from the Under-21s squad, after James Forrest withdrew due to injury.
Robby McCrorie, Greg Taylor and Che Adams have also withdrawn due to injury.
Poland have no fresh injury concerns to report with a full squad available.
When is Kick-Off?
Scotland host Poland at Hampden Park on Thursday 5 September at 7:45pm BST, live on ITV4 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Scotland’s first Nations League meeting against Poland.
- Poland are yet to lose away to Scotland in all competitions (W2, D3).
- Neither team is yet to keep a clean sheet when met on Scottish soil.
- Scott McTominay has scored five goals in Scotland’s last four competitive home matches.
- Poland have kept just one sheet in all competitions in 2024 (W3, D2, L2).
Prediction
Having made tweaks after a lacklustre Euro 2024, Steve Clarke needs to get his Tartan Army firing and out of their rut, but they must be more defensively robust and clinical than they were against Hungary in their last outing.
Poland likewise didn’t have a strong Euro 2024 despite scoring in all three group matches, so this is an opportunity for them to regroup and just cut out the defensive silliness of the summer.
Both teams though are hardly in much form at present so this could well be a scrappy game, but one which Poland should edge if Robert Lewandowski is at his best.
Prediction: Scotland 0-1 Poland
Result: Scotland 2-3 Poland
