Swansea City meet Cardiff City at SwanseaCity.com Stadium in a Welsh derby.
Victory would lift Swansea up to sixth in the table, whilst Cardiff can move off the foot of the table with a win.
Team News
Joe Allen is available for Swansea after recovering from a toe injury.
Andy Fisher (groin), Sam Parker (hamstring), Aimar Govea (unspecified) and Josh Ginnelly (Achilles) remain absent.
Cardiff have no fresh injury issues after their 5-0 loss at Burnley last weekend.
Ryotaro Tsunoda (muscle), Kion Etete (groin) and Isaak Davies (hamstring) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Swansea host Cardiff at Swansea.com Stadium on Sunday 25 August at 3pm BST, live on Sky Sports Football in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Swansea have won five of their last six Welsh derbies against Cardiff (W5, L1).
- Cardiff have won one of their last six visits to Swansea (W1, L5).
- Swansea have kept clean sheets in five of their last six home matches, during which they’ve scored 11 goals and conceded once in those six games.
- Swansea have scored three goals in each of their two home games in all competitions this season (W2), with Azeem Abdulai scoring in both matches.
- Cardiff have conceded seven goals in their opening two league matches (L2).
Prediction
With three goals in each of their last two home games in all competitions, Swansea certainly have confidence and momentum coming into this game and I would expect to see a similar attacking intent as we saw dominate Preston.
Cardiff meanwhile look a defensive mess so far with seven goals conceded and no goals scored in the league, so a huge improvement is needed because their attack otherwise is pretty solid aside from the end product.
Throw in local pride and this clash looks very interesting but even if Cardiff do sort their defence out, I can’t see Swansea losing this given their home form.
Prediction: Swansea 2-1 Cardiff
