Reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City host newly-promoted Ipswich Town at Etihad Stadium.
Victory could see Man City go top depending on results elsewhere, whilst Ipswich seek their first win of the season.
Team News
Savinho is a minor doubt for Man City after suffering a knee injury during their 2-0 win at Chelsea.
Rodri (fitness) could also feature but Oscar Bobb (leg) remains sidelined.
Ipswich will be without Wes Burns after he suffered a hamstring injury in their loss to Liverpool.
Loan signing, Kalvin Phillips is ineligible to play in this game against his parent club, whilst Arijanet Muric (calf) is a doubt.
Harry Clarke (Achilles), George Hirst (knee) and Nathan Broadhead (hamstring) are still sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Man City host Ipswich in a 3pm BST kick-off on Saturday 24 August at Etihad Stadium, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man City have won four of eight previous Premier League meetings against Ipswich (W4, D1, L3).
- Ipswich are visiting City’s Etihad Stadium for the first time but have won one of four previous Premier League trips (W1, L3).
- Both teams have scored in seven of eight meetings at Man City in the Premier League.
- Man City conceded one goal in each of their last four home matches (W4), during which they scored 17 goals in total.
- Jacob Greaves won more aerial duels than any other Ipswich player in their opening loss to Liverpool.
Prediction
Having clinically beat Chelsea in a calmly composed away performance in their opening game of the new league campaign, you have to feel that City will blow any hidden cobwebs off here at home given their quality.
Ipswich therefore just have to give it everything and hope to get lucky even for one goal, because I do expect them to have to be as defensively resilient as they were against Liverpool but City will surely force more errors.
To put it simple, I can’t see anything other than a home win for City here.
Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 Ipswich
Result: Manchester City 4-1 Ipswich
