Manchester United have signed full-back, Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich for £17.1m.

Mazraoui had been linked with Utd all summer but the Red Devils were unable to make an official move, until they sold Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham which ultimately allowed them to swoop for the the 26 year-old.

Utd have paid a total fee of £17.1m for Mazraoui, consisting of a £12.8m fee plus £4.3m in add-ons, with the Dutch-Moroccan accepting a five-year contract until June 2029 with option for a further year.

Discussing his move to Utd, Mazraoui was excited to complete his move and is eager to win trophies at Old Trafford.

“It’s an incredible feeling to be a Manchester United player, and I cannot wait to walk out at Old Trafford wearing the red shirt. I know that I’m joining the club at an exciting time; everyone I’ve spoken to has the same ambition for us to win trophies together and I can feel the determination to achieve that.”

Mazraoui added that manager – Erik ten Hag had “played an important part in my development as a player,” at Ajax and can’t wait to reunite with the Dutchman.

“I know what he expects from his players, and I will give everything to help the group be successful.”

Utd’s Sporting Director, Dan Ashworth added that Mazraoui “… is a dynamic, attacking full-back who can play on both the right and left side of defence. His experience and versatility will make him an excellent addition to our squad.

“Having already won a number of trophies in his career, we know that Noussair’s winning mentality will be a real asset to the group as we work together to deliver the success required of Manchester United.”

Mazraoui began his career at Netherlands’ AVV Alphen where he was raised locally, but soon joined Alphense Boys for one year before he was snapped up by Ajax and graduated through their academy.

The fullback went on to net 10 goals in 137 senior appearances across five seasons for Ajax, having made his debut in February 2018 as a substitute.

Across his time at Ajax, Mazraoui helped the Dutch team claim three Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cups and 2019 Johan Cruyff Shield.

July 2022 saw Mazraoui move to Bayern where he managed just one goal in 55 appearances, during which he helped them win 2022-23 Bundesliga and 2022 DFL-Supercup titles.

Mazraoui represents Morocco in international football and has two goals in 28 senior caps, plus was part of the squad which became the first African team to reach World Cup semi-finals and ultimately finished fourth at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
