Forward, Deniz Undav has departed Brighton to join Stuttgart for an undisclosed fee.

Undav spent last season on loan at Stuttgart in which he scored 19 goals and contributed 10 assists in 33 appearances.

Undav also helped Stuttgart finish as Bundesliga vice-champion and secure Champions League football for this season.

Brighton’s Technical Director, David Weir therefore explained that the club chose to respect Undav’s wishes to stay at Stuttgart, and agreed a transfer deal of over €30m with the German club for his move.

“Deniz wants to play Champions League football and continue his time with VfB Stuttgart, and while we would liked to have kept him as part of the squad, his preference was to make his move permanent.

“Once he’d made that clear, our priority was to ensure that Stuttgart met the valuation of the player.

“That’s now been achieved and we would like to thank Deniz for his time at the club and wish him well for the future.”

In his first interview with VfB TV since his permanent move, Undav stated that he is “happy” to return full-time in a transfer which he described as “a great feeling”

Undav’s successful loan also saw him secure a spot in Germany’s UEFA Euro 2024 squad in which he made one appearance, which came in a 2-0 win over Hungary as a substitute.

Undav signed for Brighton in January 2022 from Union Saint-Gilloise but stayed with the Belgian club until the summer, before he joined the Seagulls for 2022-23 season where he scored eight goals in 30 appearances.
