Aston Villa Women will play their home fixtures in 2024-25 Women’s Super League season at Villa Park.

Villa Women last season played just five fixtures at Villa Park but this season will see them play 11 home league matches at the club’s main stadium.

Home matches in the Women’s FA Cup and Women’s League Cup competitions though will continue to be played at Bescot Stadium, home of Walsall FC, having first moved there in 2020 following their promotion to the WSL.

Villa’s Head of Women’s Football, Lee Billiard described the announcement as “another big step forward” for the club, whilst guaranteeing “… continuation of the progress of our women’s programme at Aston Villa.”

Billiard also iterated that this move underlines the commercial viability of Villa Park moving forward.

“Through the support and hard work of many departments across the football club, we have been able to show Villa Park is a commercially viable venue for us.

“In the times we have played there, especially over the last couple of seasons, it has always created a special matchday experience for everyone involved.”

Billiard also spoke of the buzz amongst the players and staff at this move to Villa Park for WSL fixtures.

“Players and staff collectively share an excitement to call Villa Park our primary ground from 2024/25 onwards.”

Billiard also iterated that Villa will not look to fully cut loose from the Bescot Stadium in the near future, as he concluded: “Our relationship with Walsall Football Club continues as Poundland Bescot Stadium will be our secondary venue.”
