Pierre Gasly has signed a new multi-year contract at Alpine.

Gasly joined Alpine from AlphaTauri at the start of 2023 and managed to finish 11th in the drivers’ standings, during which he took a third-placed podium finish in the Netherlands last season.

This season though has been tough so far for Gasly with an initially uncompetitive Alpine which has since made strides, with top-ten finishes in the last three races which currently sees him sat 15th in the standings.

Gasly though has decided to extend his stay with the team on a new multi-year contract and will provide continuity, with current teammate – Esteban Ocon leaving Alpine after the conclusion of this season.

“I feel very much at home at this great team. I enjoy being a real part of both the Formula 1 project and the wider Alpine Cars vision,” commented Gasly on his contract renewal.

Gasly also iterated that he views the team as “a long-term project” with regulations set to change in 2026, even if it meant enduring a tough campaign at present.

“While on-track it’s been a challenging season so far, I remain faithful to the project and I am not going anywhere.

“I am happy with the changes made, the hard work, and the direction the team is taking. There is a lot of potential in this team’s personnel and resources. I’m excited for what is to come in the future and right now I’m focusing on the everyday details that we are putting in to improve our performances.”

Alpine Team Principal, Bruno Famin added that Gasly’s contract extension “is very pleasing” and will retain “huge experience” in the driver line-up, with Jack Doohan considered a strong favourite to be his new teammate next season.

Famin also praised Gasly for his involvement with the Alpine brand but is focused on improving this year’s car.

“For Alpine as a brand, he is a great ambassador and we therefore look forward to continuing our collaboration. While this is important for our future, we do have to keep our eyes close to what is coming and that is focusing on improving our current package.

“We have high ambitions this current season and we will work tirelessly to achieve those things. We will take our time in deciding Pierre’s team-mate and we are excited with the options we have on the table.”
