UEFA Euro 2024: Group Stage – Germany vs Hungary

Tournament hosts, Germany face Hungary in their second Group A match at UEFA Euro 2024.

Victory would see Germany secure their spot in the Round of 16, whilst Hungary must win to put themselves into contention to automatically progress to the knockout stages.

Team News

Germany have no fresh injury concerns to report after a dominant opening win over Scotland, but Jonathan Tah and Robert Andrich are both at risk of suspension if they are booked here.

Hungary could welcome Loic Nego and Callum Styles back into contention after the pair missed the loss to Switzerland, due to fitness issues.

When is Kick-Off?

Germany face Hungary at MHPArena, Stuttgart, on Wednesday 19 June at 6pm CEST (5pm UK Time), live on BBC1 in the UK.

Prediction

Sat top of Group A after a dominant opening win over Scotland, Germany simply need to just come out and play like they did in that game, because they do have the attacking quality needed to secure their knockout spot with a game to spare.

Hungary meanwhile were flat for large parts of their loss to Switzerland except when delivering dangerous forward crosses, so I would like to see them bring more fight and desire but their final group match against Scotland already feels pivotal for their knockout ambitions.

I however can’t see the hosts losing this game if play with the same confidence and clinical end product, but Hungary really should get a goal and make a contest of this if can provide a more decent opposition than Scotland did.

Prediction: Germany 3-1 Hungary

Result: Germany 2-0 Hungary
