Forward, Sam Kerr has signed a new two-year contract at Chelsea until June 2026.

Kerr joined the Blues from Chicago Red Stars in January 2020 and helped Chelsea claim 11 titles in four-and-a-half years, consisting of;

  • 5 x WSL
  • 3 x Women’s FA Cup
  • 2 x Women’s League Cup
  • 1 x Women’s Community Shield

The Australian though missed the second half of last season with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, but had scored nine goals in 12 appearances during the first half of the campaign in the final season of her  contract prior to her latest renewal.

This season though will see Kerr and her teammates adapt to a new manager as Sonia Bompastor takes charge, following Emma Hayes’ departure to take up the US Women Head Coach role.

Kerr therefore has spoken of relishing the opportunity to stay in West London and fight for titles under Bompastor.

“It’s really exciting and a very proud moment for me. Having the opportunity to stay at a club like Chelsea means a lot to me. I’m really excited to continue to push and to try to win trophies.”

Chelsea Women’s General Manager, Paul Green added that the club are “delighted” to retain Kerr who they believe to be “a leader and one of the world’s best strikers and goalscorers.

“She has been very important to our success, and we look forward to welcoming her back from injury next season.”

Kerr has scored 99 goals in 128 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea and when she returns from injury, her next goal will be her 100th goal for the West-London club.
