Defender, Laura Wienroither has signed a new contract at Arsenal.
Wienroither joined Arsenal from 1899 Hoffenheim in January 2022 and has helped Arsenal win two Women’s League Cup titles during her time in North London.
Wienroither also has made 46 appearances in two-and-a-half seasons despite suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in May 2023, which kept her sidelined for 11 months when she returned as a substitute against Bristol City.
“It’s such an incredible feeling for me to put pen to paper once again for the Arsenal.” commented Wienroither, who can’t wait for the new season after missing much of last season due to her ACL injury.
“I’m so happy to remain at this club and to have the opportunity to continue playing for a football team that I consider home. Being back on the pitch with my teammates is a feeling I can’t describe, and I can’t wait for the next season to get started.”
Arsenal Women’s Head Coach, Jonas Eidevall is “delighted” that Wienroither has committed her future to the Gunners, especially following her return to full fitness.
“She brings us real quality in the full-back position, while her work rate and team spirit are just as important. She’s worked so hard on her return to competition and I’m sure she will continue to make a big contribution to the squad moving forward.”
Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley added that Wienroither is “an important” player for the club, and is hopeful that she can return to her best form next season, which starts with a US pre-season tour in August.
“We’ve all been impressed by the way Laura has worked back from serious injury, which was sustained at the end of an excellent first full season here. We look forward to seeing her back to her best and and I know our supporters will join me in warmly congratulating her today.”
