Midfielder, Steven Alzate will be released by Brighton & Hove Albion on 30 June 2024.
Alzate will depart the Seagulls upon expiry of his contract on 30 June after seven years at the club in which he made 72 appearances, amidst a six-month loan spell at Swindon Town in first half of 2018-19 season plus a two-season stint at Standard Liege in last two seasons.
Brighton’s Technical Director, David Weir thanked Alzate for his contributions to the club over the last seven years.
“We would like to thank Steven for his efforts during his time with the club and wish him all the very best for the future.”
Adam Lallana will also leave Brighton which he announced last month, whilst James Milner and Danny Welbeck both signed new contracts.
Benicio Baker-Boaitey, Joshua Duffus, Cam Peupion and Imari Samuels meanwhile have signed new contracts at youth level, with the former trio having made nine appearances in total across all competitions whilst Samuels spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Fleetwood Town.
Brighton have released Jack Hinchy, Leigh Kavanagh, Brody Peart, Tommy Reid and Bailey Smith at youth level, but will work with each player to help them decide on their future plans and clubs.
Brighton’s Head of Academy, Ian Buckman explained that the club won’t turn away from the quintet of released players, whilst those who have been awarded new contracts need to continue their progression towards the first-team squad.
“Obviously there is good news for those being given extended terms and disappointment for the players not offered new contracts.
“We will continue to offer our support to the five and help them achieve their next steps in the coming weeks and months. We wish them well for the future.
“For those offered new terms, their aim will be to continue their development next season with the ambition of making our first-team squad.”
