2023-24 Premier League: Week 38 – Burnley vs Nottingham Forest

Burnley host relegation-battling Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor on the final day of 2023-24 Premier League season.

Victory would see Burnley finish 18th if Luton lose elsewhere, whilst Forest need to just avoid defeat to guarantee survival.

A defeat however would be enough for Forest to stay up if avoid losing by a seven-goal margin at Turf Moor, and Luton fail to win by a minimum of six goals at home to Fulham if the Hatters take victory in their game.

Burnley have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 2-1 loss at Tottenham last weekend,

Jordan Beyer (thigh), Ameen Al-Dakhil (unspecified), Nathan Redmond (hamstring), Luca Koleosho and Aaron Ramsey (both knee) remain absent.

Forest will be without Nicolas Dominguez after the midfielder needed surgery on a hernia issue.

Neco Williams (thigh) remains ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Burnley host Forest at Turf Moor on Sunday 19 May at 4pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Burnley drew 1-1 in their only previous Premier League meeting against Forest in September 2023.
  • Forest are visiting Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League for the first time, but are winless in their last six visits in all league competitions (D1, L6).
  • Both teams have scored in five of their last six league meetings except for a 1-0 Burnley win at home in February 2016.
  • Burnley have scored in nine of their last ten matches (W2, D5, L3).
  • Morgan Gibbs-White has been involved in more league goals this season than any other Forest player, having produced five goals and created ten assists in 36 appearances.

Prediction

Although their attacking quality and form has improved in the last couple of months, Burnley has been let down by an awful defence otherwise they could of stayed up but this is a chance to finish a tough season on a positive note but their defence needs serious work if want to bounce back up.

Forest meanwhile have just been inconsistent from start to finish and would surely of been relegated if not for Luton and Burnley’s awful defences, yet they have their fate in their own hands now and I don’t see them losing this game by a heavy result.

In fact if they play with the same spirit as they did against Chelsea but cut out the defensive errors, they can win this but Burnley surely could get a goal out of this.

Prediction: Burnley 1-2 Nottingham Forest

Result: Burnley 1-2 Nottingham Forest
