2023-24 Premier League: Week 38 – Brighton vs Manchester United

Brighton & Hove Albion host top-seven chasing Manchester United at AMEX Stadium.

Victory would see Brighton finish 10th in the table, whilst Man Utd need to better Newcastle’s result at Brentford in order to finish seventh due to their inferior goal difference.

Lewis Dunk is ruled out for Brighton after he suffered a knee injury during their midweek 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

Joel Veltman (knock), Jan Paul van Hecke (muscle), Pervis Estupinan, Evan Ferguson (both ankle), James Milner (thigh), Jack Hinshelwood (foot), Kaoru Mitoma (back) and Solly March (knee) remain absent.

Man Utd could welcome Raphael Varane (muscle), Victor Lindelöf (hamstring) and Anthony Martial (groin) back into contention.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw (both muscle), Tyrell Malacia (knee) and Mason Mount (unspecified) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Brighton host Man Utd at AMEX Stadium on Sunday 19 May at 4pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

Although this season has been tough with various injuries and adapting to a more hectic schedule than usual, Brighton have a chance to finish on a high despite their poor form but they must be more clinical than they were against Chelsea in midweek.

Man Utd meanwhile were simply more clinical in their win over Newcastle but their attacking quality felt scrappy at times and given their poor form at the AMEX, I do feel like they will have to be much better overall if want to win here to stand any chance of securing European qualification.

Throw in Utd’s eye on the FA Cup Final then I wouldn’t be surprised if this game ends up being a slightly dour affair and a point apiece unless either team can bring their top game.

Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Manchester United

Result: Brighton 0-2 Manchester United
