2023-24 Premier League: Week 38 – Arsenal vs Everton

Arsenal face a crucial final-day showdown against Everton at the Emirates Stadium in their quest for a first Premier League title in 20 years.

Only victory coupled with a draw or defeat for Manchester City would see Arsenal snatch the title on the final day.

Everton meanwhile will finish 15th if they can match or better Brentford’s result across in West London.

Bukayo Saka is set to be available for Arsenal despite having suffered a knock during their win at Manchester United last weekend.

Jurrien Timber is a doubt as he continues to near a first-team return from an ACL injury.

Everton will be without Jack Harrison after he missed their win over Sheffield United with a hamstring injury.

Andre Gomes (facial) is a doubt but Nathan Patterson (hamstring), Vitaliy Mykolenko (ankle) and Dele Alli (hip) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Arsenal host Everton at Emirates Stadium on Sunday 19 May at 4pm BST, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Arsenal have won three of their last seven league meetings against Everton (W3, L4).
  • Everton have won one of their last 27 league visits to Arsenal (W1, D4, L22)
  • Five of Arsenal’s last nine goals at home to Everton were scored between Gabriel Martinelli (3) and Martin Odegaard (2).
  • Five of Leandro Trossard’s 12 league goals for Arsenal this season were scored at home.
  • Everton are winless in their last 11 away matches in all competitions (D5, L6).

Prediction

Despite having done everything that they can this season, Arsenal’s fate is out of their hands so they just need to knuckle down now and just try and play more clinically than they did at Man Utd in order to get the win and hope that West Ham do them a favour.

Everton meanwhile have done well to have the opportunity to relax here with safety assured a few weeks ago, but their away form has been pretty awful since late December so a huge performance will be needed from the Toffees if want to avoid another away trip in 2024 with no win.

I however just can’t see Arsenal losing here as all they can do is just get the win for their fans and hope that results go their way.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Everton

Result: Arsenal 2-1 Everton
