Alex Albon has signed a multi-year contract extension at Williams.

Albon joined Williams from Red Bull in 2022 and has constantly outqualified his two teammates – Nicholas Latifi and Logan Sargeant in the past two seasons, whilst delivering 31 points in 50 races for the British constructor.

“I am incredibly happy to be remaining with Williams Racing and to continue working with such a talented and dedicated team of people,” commented Albon upon confirmation of his new contract which will see him stay with the team into 2026 when new regulations are introduced.

This season has proven tough so far for Albon with no top-ten finishes and he even had to use Sargeant’s car for the Australian Grand Prix weekend, following a FP1 incident which severely damaged his own car beyond use.

Reflecting upon his “difficult start” to the campaign, Albon believes that the team “have made significant progress together..” and is keen to continue his “long-term project that I really believe in” with the decision to extend his contract.

Albon also urged fans to keep patience as he added: “The journey will take time but I am confident we are building the right team to move forward and achieve great things in the years to come.”

Team Principal, James Vowles is “delighted” to retain Albon despite speculation that he was in contention to replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes next season.

Addressing the importance of Albon’s decision to stay with the team, Vowles said: “He has exceptional talent, technical input and dedication to the cause and this is a huge vote of confidence in Williams and the journey back to competitiveness that we are on.

“Since joining, Alex has consistently demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure, and signing him for the long-term is a big piece of the puzzle of moving us up the grid.”

Albon’s teammate for next season will be confirmed in due course.
