Manchester United meet Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium in the 2023-24 Women’s FA Cup Final.
Victory would see either Man Utd or Tottenham claim their maiden Women’s FA Cup title – having both never won this competition before.
Team News
Man Utd have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-0 loss at Liverpool in the WSL.
Gabby George, Jess Simpson and Emma Watson remain sidelined with ACL injuries.
Tottenham will be without midfielder, Grace Clinton who is ineligible to face her parent club due to loan deal rules.
Amy James-Turner is back in contention after she missed their 2-2 draw at Everton in the WSL, due to an unspecified issue.
When is Kick-Off?
Man Utd face Tottenham at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 12 May at 2:30pm BST, live on BBC1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Man Utd’s first-ever Women’s FA Cup meeting against Tottenham.
- Tottenham are playing Utd for the very first time in all women’s cup competitions.
- Utd have lost their only previous trip to Wembley in the Women’s FA Cup (L1), which came in a 1-0 loss to Chelsea in last season’s final.
- Rachel Williams has scored four goals in three of her four appearances for Utd in this season’s competition.
- Tottenham have kept one clean sheet in this season’s competition, but have come from behind to advance from each of their three matches in which they conceded first.
Prediction
Although this season hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for Man Utd with a lot of inconsistency in the league, they have nevertheless done well in the cup and will certainly start as favourites given that they have the experience of this showpiece from last season.
Tottenham meanwhile are in their first major cup final as a professional Women’s club but they are a team with proper grit and spirit – which they showed in their various fightbacks in recent games in all competitions so don’t underestimate them at all peril.
The one thing that might count against Spurs is their lack of experience in this sort of major showpiece matches as a team despite having experienced winners like Bethany England, but given their gutsiness and fightback spirit I can see them pushing Utd to extra-time at minimum.
I however can’t see Man Utd losing this except in the event of a penalty shootout purely due to the advantage of having experienced heartbreak last season.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Tottenham
