2023-24 UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals: Second Leg – Barcelona vs PSG

Barcelona host PSG at the Nou Camp in the second leg of their Quarter-Final in 2023-24 UEFA Champions League.

With a 3-2 aggregate lead from the first leg, Barcelona know that victory or a draw would see them through to the semi-finals.

PSG meanwhile simply must win if want any chance of advancing although an one-goal winning margin would send the tie to extra time and potentially penalties.

Sergi Roberto and Andreas Christensen are both suspended for Barcelona after the pair were booked during the first leg.

Ronald Araujo, Frenkie De Jong, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres are just one booking away from missing the semi-final first leg if Barcelona do advance.

Gavi (ACL) and Alejandro Balde (hamstring) remain sidelined.

PSG will welcome defender, Achraf Hakimi back from his one-match ban in the first leg.

Sergio Rico (head), Layvin Kurzawa (back) and Presnel Kimpembe (Achilles) are still ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Barcelona host PSG at Nou Camp on Tuesday 16 April at 9pm CEST (8pm UK Time), live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Barcelona are unbeaten in nine of 13 previous Champions League meetings against PSG (W5, D4, L4).
  • PSG have won one of six previous Champions League visits to Barcelona (W1, D2, L3).
  • Barcelona have kept one clean sheet in six previous Champions League matches against PSG.
  • Xavi’s Barca have kept one clean sheet in four Champions League matches at home this season (W4).
  • PSG have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 17 away matches in the Champion League (W6, D4, L7).

Prediction

With the aggregate lead, Barcelona have their fate in their own hands but they can’t afford to rely on mainly whipping crosses into the box now for goals – because they will need to show more creativity and tactical nous if want to reach the last four.

PSG meanwhile have had almost a week to prepare for this game after their Ligue 1 match away to Lorient was postponed to maximise focus on this game, but they realistically need to score first and be more clinical if want any chance of turning the tie around plus cut out their sloppy first-leg marking.

Do that then PSG might well find themselves in the driving seat but Barcelona won’t make this easy and the Nou Camp is a difficult place to go this season, so a draw might well look the best outcome unless PSG can score first then anything could happen.

Prediction: Barcelona 1-1 PSG

Result: Barcelona 1-4 PSG (PSG win 6-4 on aggregate)
