Manchester United entertain title-chasing Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Man Utd will stay sixth regardless of the result, whilst Liverpool can spend another matchweek at the summit with a win.
Team News
Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans and Casemiro are doubtful for Man Utd after picking up injuries during their dramatic loss at Chelsea in midweek.
Altay Bayindir (muscle) could return but Luke Shaw (muscle), Lisandro Martinez (calf), Victor Lindelöf (hamstring), Tyrell Malacia (knee) and Anthony Martial (groin) remain sidelined.
Liverpool could welcome Wataru Endo back into midfield after he was rested in their win over Sheffield United.
Ben Doak, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota (all knee), Joel Matip (ACL), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Stefan Bajcetic (calf) and Alisson (hamstring) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Man Utd host Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday 7 April at 3:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man Utd have won one of their last 11 league meetings against Liverpool (W1, D4, L6).
- Liverpool have lost one of their last five league visits to Man Utd (W2, D2, L1).
- Utd and Liverpool haven’t played out consecutive 0-0 draws in the Premier League.
- Antony and Scott McTominay has been utilised as a substitute more than any other Man Utd player this season in the league, having both come on from the bench on 12 occasions.
- Alexis Mac Allister has scored three goals and created four assists in his last six league appearances for Liverpool.
Prediction
After Thursday’s defensive injury-time collapse to lose to Chelsea after having fought back to lead 3-2, Man Utd need to just buckle up their ideas now that a fourth-placed finish is pretty much gone and they’re now within the grasp of the chasing pack.
Their defence though needs to step up because they were sluggish in the opening 20 minutes and again at the end, but their attack clearly is capable as evidenced by their fighting spirit and quality yet let down by the woeful back line.
Liverpool meanwhile have to be smarting after their dramatic FA Cup exit here barely three weeks ago and I expect them to be fired up for this match, although they can’t play with the psychology that one goal is enough which almost caught them out against Sheffield Utd.
Utd though do have a habit of turning out a decent performance against the big-name teams but with their defensive issues and inconsistency, I don’t see them getting anything here because Liverpool surely won’t suffer fools again at Old Trafford this season.
Prediction: Manchester United 1-3 Liverpool
Result: Manchester United 2-2 Liverpool
