Liverpool continue their title push against relegation-battling Sheffield United at Anfield.
Victory would see Liverpool stay top of the table, whilst Sheffield Utd will stay bottom regardless of the result but a win would put Chris Wilder’s Blades within seven points of safety.
Team News
Andrew Robertson is set to return for Liverpool after he missed their comeback win over Brighton with an ankle injury.
Curtis Jones (bone) could also be in contention after a successful return to training.
Ben Doak, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota (all knee), Joel Matip (ACL), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Stefan Bajcetic (calf) and Alisson (hamstring) remain absent.
Sheffield Utd could be without Vinicius Souza who was substituted with a minor issue in their 3-3 draw against Fulham.
Cameron Archer (calf) and Oliver Arblaster (knock) are doubts for selection subject to fitness checks.
Chris Basham, Max Lowe (both ankle), Rhian Brewster, Rhys Norrington-Davies (both hamstring), George Baldock, Tom Davies (both calf), John Egan (foot) and Daniel Jebbison (illness) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Liverpool host Sheffield Utd at Anfield on Thursday 4 April at 7:3pm BST, live on TNT Sports … in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Liverpool are unbeaten in their last seven league meetings against Sheffield United (W6, D1).
- Sheffield Utd have won one of their five previous Premier League visits to Liverpool at Anfield (W1, L4).
- Liverpool have scored twice in each of their last four league meetings against Sheffield Utd.
- Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have conceded first in each of their last three league matches at Anfield (W2, D1).
- Coming into this matchweek, no goalkeeper has made more tackles this season than Sheffield Utd’s Wes Foderingham (3).
Prediction
Although their defence were sluggish at times in the first half against Brighton, Liverpool’s quality attacking intensity and two clinical goals saw them scrape the win with a dominant second half but they now need to be more consistent in a game which they should comfortably win.
Sheffield United meanwhile were clinical against Fulham despite getting outplayed at times yet some timid marking cost them a win, but I can see that draw costing them come end of season when could of hung on for the win instead.
Chris Wilder’s Blades though have to view this as a free hit and likewise on Sunday against Chelsea but I don’t see them getting anything at Anfield, although if they’re to score then they realistically need to score first otherwise there will be one result.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Sheffield United
Result: Liverpool 3-1 Sheffield United
