2023-24 Premier League: Week 30 – Aston Villa vs Wolves

Aston Villa host Wolves at Villa Park as both teams chase European qualification.

Depending on how Tottenham fare in mid-afternoon, victory could put Villa six points clear of fifth-placed Spurs.

Wolves meanwhile can go seventh with a win if West Ham lose in the lunchtime kick-off.

Matty Cash is ruled out for Aston Villa after he suffered a hamstring injury whilst on international duty for Poland.

Jacob Ramsey (foot) could return but John McGinn (suspension), Tyrone Mings, Boubacar Kamara (both knee) and Emiliano Buendia (ACL) remain on the side-lines.

Wolves could welcome Matheus Cunha back into contention following his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (knee), Craig Dawson (groin), Hwang Hee-Chan and Pedro Neto (both hamstring) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Villa host Wolves at Molineux on Easter Saturday 30 March at 5:30pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Villa have failed to win any of their last six meetings against Wolves (D3, L3).
  • Wolves are unbeaten in their last seven top-flight visits to Villa (W3, D4).
  • Ex Villa striker – Danny Ings has scored in each of Villa’s last two home games against Wolves (D1, L1).
  • No Premier League player coming into this matchweek has been involved in more league goals this season than Villa’s Ollie Watkins (16 goals & 10 assists).
  • Max Kilman has created more passes than any other Wolves player in the league this season, having made 1,613 passes in 28 league appearances.

Prediction

Currently in pole position for the final Champions League spot, Villa just need to continue playing like they’ve done lately but they just weren’t clinical enough for all of their dominant attacking at West Ham, so I would like to see them show more composure up front here.

Wolves meanwhile need to put their dramatic FA Cup exit against Coventry behind them because for all of their gusty attacking spirit to come from behind, their defence simply cost them through small but costly mistakes but they do still have quality to cause issues here.

Villa though know that this is a must-win especially with Manchester City and Arsenal to come in two of their next three matches, yet Wolves will benefit from Cunha’s return in a game which could go either way and I do feel that this could be a draw.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1-1 Wolves

Result: Aston Villa 2-0 Wolves
