Roundup of UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifying Play-Offs as the final spots were decided.
This round saw 12 teams who had failed to qualify automatically partake in a play-off split across semi-final and final in three separate paths – which each contained four teams, of which the path winner all secured a place in the main tournament.
Now, here is a roundup of all the action across Paths A, B and C.
Path A
Semi-Finals
Second-half goals from Brennan Johnson and Dan James saw Wales defeat Finland in Cardiff, having led through David Brooks and Neco Williams’ first-half goals before Teemu Pukki briefly reduced Finland’s deficit on the stroke of half-time.
Przemyslaw Frankowski, Piotr Zielinski, Jakub Piotrowski and Sebastian Szymanski all found the net for Poland in a 5-1 win, during which Estonia’s Karol Mets deflected Poland’s fourth goal into his own net before Martin Vetkal scored a late consolatory goal for the Estonians.
Final
Wales held Poland to a goalless draw even after Chris Mepham was sent off late in extra-time following a second booking, but Dan James’ last-gasp saved penalty saw Poland win 5-4 on penalties.
Poland will now face Netherlands, Austria and France in Group D at the tournament.
Path B
Semi-Finals
Albert Gudmundsson’s hat-trick and Arnor Traustason’s 42nd minute goal saw Iceland come from behind to eliminate Israel 4-1 in Budapest, Hungary, after Eran Zahavi had put Israel in front with a 31st minute penalty.
Last-gasp quick-fire goals from Roman Yaremchuk and Artem Dovbyk saw Ukraine snatch a comeback win over Bosnia & Herzegovina, who had led through Mykola Matviyenko’s 56th minute own-goal.
Final
Second half goals from Viktor Tsyhankov and Mykhailo Mudryk saw Ukraine come from behind to beat Iceland 2-1 in Wroclaw, Poland, after Gudmundsson had fired Iceland ahead at half-time.
Ukraine now will go into Group E alongside Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.
Path C
Semi-Finals
Budu Zivzivadze’s brace saw Georgia beat Luxembourg to reach the Path C Play-Off Final with a 2-0 win in Tbilisi.
Anastasios Bakasetas’ ninth-minute penalty fired Greece past Kazakhstan in a 5-0 win in Athens, as Dimitrios Pelkas, Fotis Ioannidis, Dimitrios Kourbelis and Yerkin Tapalov’s own-goal completed the rout.
Final
After a goalless draw, Giorgi Kochorashvili, Zuriko Davitashvili, Lasha Dvali and Nika Kvkvskiri all found the net as Georgia beat 2004 winners – Greece on penalties to reach the main tournament for the first time.
Georgia will now join Turkey, Portugal and Czech Republic in Group F.
