2023-24 Premier League: Week 29 – Luton vs Nottingham Forest

Luton Town host Nottingham Forest at Kenilworth Road in the fight for Premier League survival.

Victory would see Luton climb out of the relegation zone at Forest’s expense, whilst Forest can go 15th with a win if Brentford lose elsewhere but crucially move six points clear of the drop.

Tahith Chong is a doubt for Luton after he suffered a rib injury during a dramatic midweek defeat at Bournemouth.

Amari’i Bell, Dan Potts, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Elijah Adebayo (all hamstring), Joseph Johnson (illness), Mads Andersen (calf), Gabriel Osho, Marvelous Nakamba, Jacob Brown (all knee) and Tom Lockyer (illness) remain absent.

Forest could welcome Giovanni Reyna (knock) and Ola Aina (muscle) back into contention.

Gonzalo Montiel (muscle) is a doubt but Nuno Tavares (unspecified) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Luton face Forest at Kenilworth Road at 3pm GMT on Saturday 16 March, untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

Although Wednesday’s loss at Bournemouth was a game of two halves, Luton have to take confidence from their ruthless first-half but cut out the defensive sloppiness which shockingly allowed Bournemouth to come from 3-0 down to win.

Forest meanwhile deserved a draw at Brighton yet an unlucky own-goal and poor end product cost them, but they do have the quality to seriously trouble Luton’s defence if can get at them aggressively and show more composure on the attack.

This game though could be season-defining come end of season so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a cagy start, but Forest will have the fitness advantage which could prove crucial come the closing minutes.

Prediction: Luton 1-2 Nottingham Forest

Result: Luton 1-1 Nottingham Forest
