2023-24 Women’s FA Cup: Quarter-Finals: Everton vs Chelsea

Everton seek to produce a giant killing against defending champions, Chelsea at Walton Hall Park in the 2023-24 Women’s FA Cup Quarter-Finals.

Victory would see Everton reach the semi-finals for the first time since they finished runners-up in the 2019-20 season, whilst Chelsea seek to reach the last four for the 11th time in 12 seasons.

Megan Finnigan could return for Everton after she missed their Women’s Super League loss at Manchester City due to illness.

Sara Holmgaard, Karen Holmgaard (both unspecified), Emily Ramsey (ankle) and Katrine Veje (calf) remain ruled out.

Chelsea have no fresh injury concerns to report following their League Cup win at Man City in midweek.

Millie Bright (knee), Aniek Nouwen, Mia Fishel and Sam Kerr (all ACL) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Prediction

Having had a week to prepare for this game following a tough defeat at Man City, Everton will need to be at their defensive best but clinical up front if want to get into the semi-finals, especially given that this cup run has given some respite from their league woes with one win since mid December.

Chelsea meanwhile are hunting for a fourth title as they continue to chase a domestic treble but they do have some injury issues with key players in Bright and Kerr sidelined, yet this team just continues to weave through every stumbling block thrown at them, which shows the depth of quality within this team.

Thursday’s scrappy but clinical win despite having to be defensively resilient for much of the match highlighted how much grit is within this team, even when outclassed on the attack but I can’t see them having any issues here no matter what Everton try to put their way.

Prediction: Everton 0-3 Chelsea

Result: Everton 0-1 Chelsea
