2023-24 Premier League: Week 27 – Burnley vs Bournemouth

Relegation battling Burnley entertain Bournemouth at Turf Moor.

Victory would see Vincent Kompany’s Clarets stay second bottom, whilst Bournemouth will stay 13th regardless of their result but can move closer to safety with a win.

When is Kick-Off?

Burnley host Bournemouth at Turf Moor on Sunday 3 March at 1pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Burnley have won four of their last five league meetings against Bournemouth (W4, L1).
  • Bournemouth have won one of their four previous Premier League visits to Burnley (W1, L3).
  • Burnley have scored seven goals in their last two league matches at home to Bournemouth without conceding (W2).
  • Seven of Burnley’s 25 league goals this season were scored from outside of the box.
  • Dominic Solanke has hit the woodwork this season on more occasions than any of his Bournemouth teammates, having rattled the woodwork on three occasions in 25 league appearances.

Prediction

After last weekend’s horror show at Palace devoid of much attacking quality and a messy defence, Burnley must reset now and find some sort of decent performance otherwise they could be as good as down with an enormous mountain to climb to safety.

Bournemouth meanwhile have played well defensively lately but just keep suffering mistakes, whilst their attack has been unlucky against Manchester City and Leicster in their last two games, so this is the ideal game to try and find goals against a really poor defence.

In fact I can see Andoni Iraola’s Cherries doing just that given Burnley’s atrocious home record this season with a single clean sheet, but Vincent Kompany’s Clarets should give them a game if can show more attacking ability.

Prediction: Burnley 0-2 Bournemouth

Result: Burnley 0-2 Bournemouth
