Brighton have drawn AS Roma in a stand-out tie from Round of 16 draw in the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League.
Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton are in their first season of European competition and after topping Group B to bypass the knockout play-offs, will now face AS Roma in a tricky tie which pits their Italian boss against a team which he faced many times during his playing career.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will face Sparta Prague for a spot in the Quarter-Finals, as the Reds continue to chase a quadruple in Klopp’s final season in charge of the club.
David Moyes’ West Ham will face a reunion with SC Freiburg who they met in Group A, with the Hammers having won both group clashes in which they scored twice in both games.
2021-22 runners-up, Rangers face a tricky test against Benfica as the current Scottish Premiership leaders chase a first European title since 1971-72 season.
Elsewhere, Marseille will meet Group F winners, Villarreal in a tasty Western-European tie between two teams tipped to go deep in this season’s competition.
Sporting Lisbon will face Atalanta in another exciting match-up between two European teams who many would expect to challenge for the title.
AC Milan’s reward for eliminating Rennes in the knockout play-offs is a relatively easy-looking tie against Slavia Prague.
Qarabag survived a huge second leg scare to upset Braga and will now face Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen – with the Bundesliga club currently on course for a first senior title since 1992-93 DFB-Pokal as they currently top Germany’s top-flight.
First legs will be played on Thursday 7 March – except for Sporting Lisbon who play their first leg on Tuesday 5 March, followed by the return legs a week later on Thursday 14 March.
