2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 30 – Saturday

Norwich entertain Coventry at Carrow Road in the rac for the 2023-24 Championship Play-Offs.

Victory would see Norwich climb to seventh and behind Coventry on goal difference if Hull and Watford lose elsewhere.

Mark Robins’ Sky Blues meanwhile can go fifth with a win if West Brom fail to beat Birmingham City elsewhere, although a draw would be enough for Coventry to move up into fifth if the Baggies lose their game.

Josh Sargent could return for Norwich after he was rested in their FA Cup defeat at Liverpool last weekend.

Jonathan Rowe (hand) and Danny Batth (hamstring) remain absent.

Loan signing, Sydney van Hooijdonk could make his debut following his switch from Bologna to replace Adam Idah, who has joined Celtic until the end of the season.

Coventry will be without Ben Sheaf after he suffered a hamstring injury during their 2-2 draw against Bristol City in midweek.

When is Kick-Off?

Norwich meet Coventry at Carrow Road in a 3pm GMT kick-off on Saturday 3 February, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Norwich are unbeaten in their last seven league meetings against Coventry (W4, D3).
  • Coventry have won one of their last five league visits to Norwich (W1, D2, L2).
  • Norwich have scored five goals in each of their last two home matches against Coventry without conceeding (W2).
  • Josh Sargent has scored in each of Norwich’s last two league matches at home (W1, D1).
  • Coventry have kept just one clean sheet in their last five league matches on the road (W3, D1, L1).

Prediction

Although defeat at Liverpool was always inevitable, Norwich can take heart from how they took the game to Jurgen Klopp’s Reds and score twice at Anfield but they must implement those lessons now if want to avoid losing pace in the play-off race to the Sky Blues.

Mark Robins’ Coventry meanwhile are unbeaten in their last 11 matches in all competitions but are without a clean sheet in six games, and weren’t exactly at their best against Bristol City yet grinded out a draw which might well be the case here if can’t win.

Norwich though will be the fresher team but Coventry are a difficult team to keep quiet so unless the Canaries can find two goals, this could well be a competitive draw.

Prediction: Norwich 1-1 Coventry

Result: Norwich 2-1 Coventry
